трюк Давенпортов
Трюк, с помощью которого человек освобождается от связывающих его канатов и веревок. Назван по имени двух американцев - братьев Давенпортов [Davenport Brothers], которые давали представления во многих городах Америки и уверяли наивных зрителей, что выбраться из пут и веревок им помогают потусторонние силы и духи. Их обман был раскрыт в 1865. Позднее умение освобождаться от цепей, наручников, из запертых помещений стал называться "эскапизмом" [escapism]. Невероятные трюки демонстрировал американцам великий "эскапист" Г. Гудини [Houdini, Harry]
